Yokohama Rubber Co. has announced a series of OE awards over the recent weeks. The tire maker is supplying Advan V61 tires as OE for Toyota’s new hybrid RAV4, launched globally in December 2025. The tires are fitted on the Z and Adventure variants of the model. The tire maker is also supplying Advan Sport ZPS run-flat tires as OE for Toyota’s new GR Yaris in the Middle East. Separetely, YRC said it had gain OE approval for its BluEarth-Es ES32 tires for Suzuki’s Wagon R mini-vehicle in Japan.
SRI has begun supplying its Dunlop e. Sport Maxx and SP Sport Maxx 060 tires as OE for Toyota Motor’s newly launched sixth-generation RAV4 in Japan, which went on sale in December last year. The e. Sport Maxx (235/60R18 103H) is standard on the Z grade, while the SP Sport Maxx 060 (235/50R20 104V XL) is offered as an option, with GR Sport fitments scheduled within 2025. The tires were developed to deliver improved noise reduction through optimised tread patterns and a newly developed compound balancing fuel efficiency and wet performance, with the e. Sport Maxx also featuring Dunlop’s Nano Black sidewall branding.
YRC is supplying its Geolandar X-CV tires as OE for the partially redesigned Lexus RZ battery-electric SUV launched in North America in November last year, while continuing to supply Advan V61 tires for the Japan-market model. The Geolandar X-CV is an M+S-rated highway terrain tire developed to balance safety, comfort, and efficiency, and carries Yokohama’s “E+” mark indicating EV-specific performance attributes, with development supported by the company’s AI-based HAICoLab framework.
GRI’s Ultimate Green XT tire has won ‘sustainable product of the year’ and received ‘highly commended’ recognition for innovative product of the year at the Automechanika Dubai Awards. The tire also won the “best innovation in sustainability” award at ProMat 2025 in Chicago. The tire, distinguished by its green colour, incorporates environmentally friendly materials and production practices aimed at reducing environmental impact while maintaining performance, reinforcing GRI’s growing global profile in sustainability-focused tire innovation.
Bridgestone Americas has recalled over 1,700 Firestone Destination LE3 all-season replacement tires in the US due to a manufacturing defect that could lead to belt separations and increase the risk of a crash. The recall affects tires in size 265/70R17, produced between 26 Oct and 8 Nov at Bridgestone’s plant in Wilson, North Carolina, according to NHTSA. The agency said around 50% of the affected tires may have a belt edge insert that is out of position, potentially reducing durability and leading to belt edge separation. This could also expose the belt edge insert to environmental conditions, resulting in circumferential cracking.
UK distributor Redpath Tyres has switched the majority of its service-van fleet to Michelin Agilis CrossClimate all-season tires, citing traction performance and durability. The Scotland-based company, which operates 13 sites across Scotland and northern England, has fitted the tires on around 90% of its 48-vehicle van fleet, primarily Mercedes-Benz Sprinters and MAN TGEs. Redpath Tyres said its vans typically cover 45,000–50,000 miles per year, with one vehicle reportedly achieving 61,000 miles on a single set of Agilis CrossClimate tires.
Pirelli P Zero tires have been approved as OE fitment on the latest Porsche 911 GT3 model. The P Zero R and the P Zero Trofeo RS are two new tires “tailor-made” for the car to meet its specific needs. (Read more)
JK Tyre has started the commercial production of the ‘UX Royale Green’ passenger car tires using ISCC+ certified raw materials at its Chennai tire plant. Developed in April 2023, the tire is “India’s first” passenger car tire, linked to 80% bio, bio-circular and circular materials, according to JK Tyre.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries will exhibit its proprietary 'sensing core' technology at the Las Vegas CES2026 show to be held 6-9 Jan 2026. The technology, SRI said, supports the safety of a mobility society and is “increasingly being put to practical use”. The company will also introduce its ‘future-themed’ autonomous driving concepts as well as its current AI initiatives as a technology platform, mainly centred around AI technology and fleet services.
Pt. Multistrada Arah Sarana is recalling 82,964 Achilles ATR Sport 2 tires in sizes 245/50ZR20, 245/45R17, 225/55ZR18, 295/25ZR21 and 205/45ZR17 as Tire Identification Numbers are “too long and cannot be registered,” according to NHTSA. The defect means the products fail to comply with 49 CFR 574 and could prevent owners from receiving future recall notices, increasing the risk of continued use of a recalled tire.
Renault has approved Continental’s EcoContact 7 in 16- and 18-inch sizes as factory fitment for the new Clio, with the tire achieving top EU-label ratings for fuel efficiency and rolling noise. The model uses “a new rubber compound” and Smart Energy Casing, which Continental said reduces internal friction and rolling resistance through redesigned carcass, liner and sidewall materials. In addition, the tire’s aerodynamically optimised sidewall featuring an “aerodimple” pattern cuts air turbulence behind tires to enhance efficiency. A “Silent Pattern” tread design, with optimised block spacing and angles, further reduces noise in low-speed urban driving.
Yokohama Rubber has begun supplying its BluEarth-FE AE30 as OE for the new Nissan Roox, with select grades fitted with 155/65R14 75S tires. The model forms part of the BluEarth fuel-efficient line, designed around the brand’s “environmentally, human and socially friendly” concept, offering improved fuel economy alongside balanced performance in quietness, comfort and longevity. The Roox features advanced safety systems such as the Intelligent Around View Monitor, and the AE30 is positioned as Yokohama’s core high-efficiency tire for compact gasoline, hybrid and EV models.
Bridgestone will launch two new Potenza passenger car tires, RE-71RZ and Adrenalin RE005, initially for the Japanese domestic market next February. The RE-71R’s key features include “excellent” dry grip, responsive handling, improved wet performance, and enhanced wear resistance providing sustained high performance. Enhanced grip, on both dry and wet surfaces, was linked to a new rubber compound developed using Bridgestone’s NanoPro-Tech technology for optimising silica/polymer blends. Meanwhile, the Adrenalin RE005 “achieves an optimal balance of driving performance and fuel efficiency at a high level, providing enjoyable driving for daily use.”
Hyundai’s new all-electric Ioniq 9 will be equipped with Continental’s PremiumContact C tire, approved in size 285/45 R21 113 V XL FR for factory fitment, Conti said 21 Nov. The German supplier said the tire was engineered for large SUVs and EVs and features a “robust design” to support load capacity, as well as an adaptive tread pattern for handling on wet and dry surfaces. JK Tyre has launched “India’s first embedded smart tires” for the passenger car segment, employing in-tire sensors to monitor key operating parameters in real-time. The system, designed and developed in-house and manufactured at the company’s Banmore plant in Madhya Pradesh, embeds sensors within the tire structure to track pressure, temperature and potential air leaks. Yokohama Rubber has gained ‘afterparts’ approval in Europe for its Advan Winter V907 UHP winter tire on Mercedes-Benz E-Class models, including the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+. The tires are being sold mainly through Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Europe. Read more
Pirelli has supplied the McLaren W1 with three “bespoke tire” types – P Zero R, P Zero Trofeo RS and P Zero Winter 2 – each with over 50% bio-based and recycled materials, independently verified under ISO 14021. Developed jointly with McLaren, the tires are designed to support the W1’s hybrid powertrain output of up to 1,275PS and high-load aerodynamic performance. Production will take place at Pirelli’s Settimo Torinese, Italy plant.
Yokohama Rubber is supplying Advan Sport V107 tires as OE for the BMW i3 in China and other markets, in 19-inch (225/45R19 front, 245/40R19 rear) and 18-inch (225/5 0R18 front, 245/45R18 rear) fitments. The tires incorporate “a bespoke compound”, adjusted groove area and reinforced structure for dry performance, wear resistance and steering stability, and carry the EU label’s top grade for rolling resistance.
Hankook said 5 Nov that it is supplying its Ventus evo SUV as OE for VW’s Tiguan and Tayron models, in six sizes ranging from 17-20”. Features include ‘balanced’ handling, low noise level and a material mix tailored for high mileage, handling and safety. Development work took place at the Hankook Technology Center in Hanover, Germany, while the tires are produced in Hankook’s Rácalmás, Hungary plant.
Nokian Tyres has launched a “next-generation” smart tire technology for agricultural machinery, featuring advanced pressure monitoring and load-sensing capabilities. The Intuitu 2.0 Smart Pressure Assistant technology was developed for the group’s Soil King VF tractor tires, according to Nokian Tyres’ 30 Oct release. Read more
Toyo Tire Holdings Americas is recalling 36,919 tires produced earlier this year at its manufacturing plant in White, Georgia, due to possible tread separation defect. In a 28 Oct notice, the NHTSA said the affected tires may have been contaminated during production, which could reduce adhesion and cause the tread to separate. Read more
Goodyear is making “significant investments” in product development at Cooper Tires, its predominant second-tier consumer brand in EMEA, the group said 23 Oct. From next year Cooper Tires will offer a wide range of passenger, 4x4, and light truck products across all seasonality and consumer vehicle types. Read more
Pirelli’s Cyber tire has been named “vehicle-to-everything (V2X) innovation of the year” at the Autotech Breakthrough Awards 2025. In a 17 Oct statement, Pirelli said AutoTech Breakthrough recognised the system as “a key technology for the future of smart mobility,” enabling integration with autonomous and connected vehicles. Hankook’s Winter i*cept range has achieved "strong" results in five recent European tire tests, earning ratings from “exemplary” to “good” across multiple publications. The Winter i*cept RS3, designed for compact SUVs and mid-size cars, was rated “exemplary” by Auto Bild Allrad in size 215/55 R17, Hankook reported 22 Oct. Read more
Bridgestone’s Potenza Sport tire has taken first place in EVO magazine’s 2025 Tire Test, achieving six 'top scores’ across key performance categories. Tested on a BMW 135i xDrive (302 bhp) with tire size 235/35 R19, the Potenza Sport ranked first out of nine tires tested for wet handling, wet braking distance, wet cornering, and curved aquaplaning. Kumho Tire’s Wintercraft WP52+ has ranked third among 51 global brands in Auto Bild’s 2025 winter tire test, earning an “exemplary” rating. The test assessed braking and handling on snow, wet and dry surfaces. Kumho’s WP52+ was praised for “outstanding driving performance and stability” across all conditions. The European winter tire uses a “natural rubber-based compound” for grip on snow and a tread pattern designed to reduce hydroplaning.
Aeolus has signed a long-term supply contract with APM Terminals, a subsidiary of AP Moller–Maersk, to supply 18.00-25 AIND40 port tires for reach stackers and other port machinery in Brazil. Aeolus said it will use its Brazilian subsidiary’s local logistics and invoicing network to provide direct deliveries and technical support. The arrangement, it added, allows the company to “reduce transaction costs” and expand its port and terminal customer base.
Nexen Tire is supplying its SUV tire, the Roadian GTX, and its ‘ultra-high performance’ summer tire, the N’Fer Sport, as OE fitment for Kia’s core family electric SUV, the Kia EV5. Read more
Pirelli has introduced the Cinturato Winter 3, a new high-performance winter tire for sedans and crossovers, developed to improve safety and control in snow and wet conditions. Read more
Pirelli has launched the Scorpion XC RH, a new cross-country racing tire manufactured at its Milan-Bollate plant using FSC-certified natural rubber. The product completes Pirelli’s cross-country range, joining the RC and M models already on the market. Read more
Bridgestone’s Blizzak 6 tire has been named overall winner in Auto Bild sportscars’ 2025 Winter Tire Test, outperforming 10 rivals in snow traction, braking, and handling. Tested in size 235/50 R19 on an Audi Q3 Sportback, the tire earned an overall ‘exemplary’ rating (grade 1.3). Launched in 2024, the EV-ready Blizzak 6 features Bridgestone’s Enliten technology and offers 32% better mileage than its predecessor, the Blizzak LM005.
Continental is supplying EcoContact 6 Q tires as OE fitment for Mercedes-Benz’s GLE and GLS SUVs. Designed for “efficient and quiet driving” the tire features a low rolling resistance rubber compound and optimised tread pattern to cut noise, improve grip and deliver stability at high speeds.
Falken has introduced its ‘Vario Core’ technology in the new Euroall Season AS220 all-season tire. The technology combines lightweight design, advanced tread geometry and new polymers for all-weather safety and comfort. Its ‘chaotic array’ tread with ‘hydro grooves’ boosts wet braking, while snow compaction grooves enhance winter grip. Rated B–C for rolling resistance and B for wet grip, the AS220 is available in 65 sizes (15–20 inches).
Goodyear has confirmed that Cooper Tires will become its sole second-tier brand across Europe, the Middle East and Africa after the Dunlop brand transfer to Sumitomo Rubber Industries ends on 31 Dec. The change consolidates Goodyear’s brand portfolio as part of its post-sale transition strategy.
On 14 Sept, BYD set a new EV land speed record of 496.22km/h at the German Automotive Testing Papenburg proving grounds. The Yangwang U9 Xtreme (U9X) hypercar was fitted with tires developed jointly by Giti and the Yangwang team. The tires, said Giti, employ: molecular-chain optimisation for enhanced tensile and tear strength; ultra-high-strength aramid fibres; optimissed tire geometry for even pressure distribution, reducing heat build-up and energy loss; race-grade fillers that increase grip by 38% and expand the tire’s operating temperature range.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries is marking the first anniversary of its Synchro Weather all-season tire with the sequential introduction of 24 new sizes, including a 14-inch version for mini vehicles. In Japan, noted SRI, mini cars are an important means of transport and can reduce the effort, time and cost associated with changing tires.
Michelin has a “new generation” of truck tires for regional and urban use. The X Multi Z2 & D2 is claimed to offer enhanced levels of safety and versatility regardless of road or weather conditions. Designed mainly for trucks that make frequent deliveries on short or mid-distance routes, the tires offer up to 30% more mileage on the steer axle and 15% more mileage on the drive axle compared to the previous generation. Michelin cited test results showing that when worn down to 3.5mm of rubber, the tires achieved wet braking distances up to 8m shorter than competitor products. Read more
Bridgestone has launched the VH-IND, its first agro-industrial tire for telehandlers and backhoe loaders, designed for traction across both fields and hard surfaces. Compared to a competitor brand, the tire delivers 12% more pulling force, faster stabilisation, and up to 500kg higher load capacity. This, Bridgestone said, is due to ‘a reinforced carcass and vertical stiffness balance.’ A deep 35.4mm tread provides up to 20% more rubber volume for longer wear life, while optimised pressure distribution improves durability. Nexen Tire has earned two finalist honours at the 2025 ‘international design excellence awards’ (IDEAs) for its futuristic concept tires Nexist and Cellexis. Nexist is designed for autonomous urban air mobility vehicles with vertical take-off, using lightweight carbon composites while keeping the form of a tire. Cellexis, inspired by red blood cells, uses a spherical structure with omni wheels that act simultaneously as tires, docking points, and passenger entryways, enabling modular public transport in megacities.
Bridgestone has launched the Alenza Prestige highway tire for CUVs, SUVs and trucks, featuring a “refined tread pattern” and Enliten Technology for lower rolling resistance and fuel efficiency. The tire incorporates QuietTrack for reduced road noise, a wide centre rib for stability, and the “PeakLife polymer” for longer wear, Bridgestone said. Tests showed up to 6% shorter wet stopping distances compared to its predecessor, with 47 sizes available for wheels from 16–22 inches. Top fitments include Acura RDX, Audi Q7, BMW 3 Series and X5, GMC Sierra, Lexus TX and Mercedes-Benz GLC. Read more
Toyo Tire has developed the Nanoenergy M648 EV, a bus tire designed specifically for electric route vehicles in Japan. The model addresses the higher torque and weight of EVs with an 8% improvement in wear resistance and a 4% improvement in rolling resistance over its predecessor. Key features include a new “wear-resistant NCP compound” developed with nano balance technology, uniform contact pressure via rigid block design, sidewall sipes to limit uneven wear, and recycled bead wires to reduce environmental impact.
Continental has announced the launch of a city bus tire with up to 60% of the materials used sourced from renewable, recycled and ISCC+* mass-balance-certified. The Conti Urban HA 5 NXT is the manufacturer’s most advanced city bus tire to date: reducing rolling resistance by 25% and extending range by up to 15% compared to previous models.
Sumitomo Rubber has named Dunlop the official tire partner for “Gran Turismo 7” and the Gran Turismo World Series. The tie-in follows Sumitomo’s acquisition of the Dunlop brand rights for four-wheel tires in Europe, North America and Oceania earlier this year. Dunlop tires will feature in the game’s “Tuning Shop,” alongside trackside branding and a new museum section highlighting more than 130 years of Dunlop technology and motorsport history.
Yokohama Rubber will be the official tire partner for the hydrogen-fuelled Extreme H World Cup, debuting next month in Saudi Arabia. It will supply a prototype based on the Geolandar X-AT all-terrain tire, featuring 38% renewable/recycled content and “strengthened durability” for hydrogen and EV off-road racing.
Giti Tire has marked a milestone with its first OE winter tire approval with BMW. The GitiWinterW2 in size 225/40R19 93H XL has been approved for the new BMW 1 Series models, the tire maker announced. The tire has been designed in Europe and delivers “safety and performance,” according to Giti.
Linglong is expanding its Master series with the Dura Master Van, designed for light trucks, vans, and motorhomes. To be launched by the end of the year, the tire it offers ‘high mileage, low rolling resistance, and a reinforced carcass for heavy loads.’ The tire maker has developed “Van e” version for OE applications and is expected to release the all-season and winter variants of the tire next year.
Continental’s all-weather touring tire CrossContact RX has been approved as OE for General Motor's Cadillac Optiq and Chevrolet Equinox EV. Available in 20–21 inches, the all-weather tire features ContiSeal puncture protection, quiet running, and low rolling resistance. The tires, according to Continental, have been “specially developed for safe, quiet, and comfortable driving, even with light off-road use and moderate snowfall.”
Uber is offering its drivers in London a 50% discount on Enso electric vehicle tires, Enso claims its tires can increase EV range, reduce wear emissions, and last longer than “standard” alternatives. London, it added, is Uber’s “global capital of electrification, with nearly 40% of all Uber miles in the city now fully electric. “
Vipal Rubber has introduced a retread compound developed for mixed-terrain applications. The V Super Hybrid technology is said to extend mileage, durability and damage resistance of retreaded tires. The compound is tailored for mixed-segment treads, making it suitable for fleets of different sizes. Read more
Goodyear is recalling 1,373 Metro Miler G652 tires, size B305/85R22.5 due to potential defect, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In a 6 Sept announcement, NHTSA said the inner liner gauge of the tires “may be out of specification in the shoulder area”, causing a loss of tire pressure and increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace tires, free of charge.
Yokohama Rubber Co. will be supplying the BMW Group with Advan Sport V107 tires for OE fitment on the new 7 Series sedan. Jointly developed with BMW, the tires feature "a specially developed compound and an optimised tread pattern" to achieve "excellent steering stability" and a quiet ride. The tires have also received the EU labeling system’s highest "A" grade for rolling resistance. YRC is also supplying the tires to the BMW i7.
BKT has been awarded the "excellence level" supplier by earthmoving machinery manufacturer Caterpillar for the fourth consecutive year. BKT has been supplying tires to Caterpillar since 2015 and is currently providing off-highway tires for Caterpillar equipment ranging between 40 and 190 tonnes in India.
Continental has secured OE fitment on the third-generation Dacia Duster with three tire models in 16–18 inch sizes. The energy-efficient EcoContact 6 Q uses a low-rolling-resistance compound for extended range and reduced wear; the AllSeasonContact combines a rolling-optimised tread with balanced performance in all weather; and the CrossContact RX SUV tire employs an innovative sipe design for traction and wet grip. Approved sizes include 215/60 R18, 215/65 R17, and 215/70 R16.
Michelin has co-developed a new Pilot Sport 5 energy tire with Mercedes-AMG for an endurance record attempt in the AMG GT XX concept EV, which circled the Nardo test track for 40,075km in under eight days. The tire uses a dual-compound tread — ‘energy passive compound’ on the shoulders for reduced energy use and ‘adaptive grip compound’ in the centre for wet/dry traction. It also incorporates RFID chips for real-time monitoring. A production range based on this design is scheduled for 2026. Read more
Hankook’s new e-Vantra FlexClimate has been selected as OE for the VW Crafter in size 205/75 R16C 113/111R. The all-season tire features a high-silica tread compound with functional polymers for wet braking, abrasion resistance, and reduced rolling resistance. Reinforced sidewalls and bead structure improve stability under full load, while a zigzag 3D sipe pattern provides traction on snow and mud. The tire is 3PMSF-certified for winter use and is designed for both ICE and electric vans.
Linglong Tire is to expand its Linglong Master product family from the yearend and has presented a new tire for light commercial vehicles. The Dura Master Van features an optimised tread design and wider tread for less wear and “significantly” higher mileage, as well as a new tread compound offering optimised rolling resistance. A new sipe technology along with the silica tread compound is said to reduce wet-braking distance, while improving handling in wet and dry conditions. The Dura Master Van and Dura Master Van e will be built exclusively at Linglong's state-of-the-art tire factory in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
Bridgestone has been named sole tire partner for Lamborghini’s new limited production Fenomeno supercar – launching to mark the 20th anniversary of the first car entirely designed by the Sant’Agata Bolognese team. With a 1080 CV powertrain, the Fenomeno is Lamborghini’s fastest-ever model – both in the 0-100 km/h sprint (2.4 seconds) and 0-200 km/h sprint (6.7 seconds). Bridgestone has custom-engineered the Potenza Sport UHP tires to deliver “outstanding performance at high speeds, excellent steering responses and precision to handle the supercar’s 1080HP power output.”
Sumitomo Rubber is recalling Dunlop TT93FGP Pro and TT93FGP Pro MS motorcycle tires made in Izumiotsu, Japan due to potential defect. Produced between 7 Jan and 8 July, the tires may have been produced by a “faulty extruder” that could cause sidewall compound to contaminate the tread surface, reducing traction. The affected sizes are 120/80-12 55J and 100/90-12 49J. The NHTSA warned the defect could increase the risk of a fall “during aggressive riding.”
Continental has received Kalmar’s “sustainability award 2025” for leadership in environmental responsibility and supply chain transparency. The award recognised Continental’s data sharing and compliance under Kalmar’s supplier engagement programme. Continental supplies Kalmar with V.ply and radial tires for reach stackers, forklifts, straddle carriers and terminal tractors, alongside ContiConnect digital monitoring systems.
Nexen Tire has launched its Roadian ATX in Australia to tap strong demand for SUV and pickup truck fitments. The all-terrain tire features a wide contact patch, advanced compound, 3D kerf design and 3PMSF certification, plus stone ejectors and side biters for off-road durability. The tire is currently being supplied as OE for Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator.
Marangoni has added to its Ringtread Drive Regional line, to meet the evolving needs of fleets, with the RDR RD3: said to deliver “superior mileage and traction – backed by 3PMSF winter certification.” Features include a “robust” monodirectional tread design with asymmetric block angles for enhanced grip and even wear. An optimised profile reduces stone retention, preserving the tire casing for future retreading cycles, while reinforced shoulder bridges provide lateral stability and prevent deformation.
Giti Tire is supplying its GitiVan V61 tires as OE for the Geely Farizon SuperVan electric pickup truck.
Giti Tire has unveiled a concept tire composed of 93% sustainable materials, marking a significant development in eco-friendly tire technology. The prototype features 53% renewable materials and 40% recycled materials, Giti reported 25 July. Read more
Nexen Tire announced 11 Aug that it is supplying its N'FERA Sport high-performance summer tires as OE for Citroën C5 and C5 Aircross SUV models. The factory installation approval – under a Stellantis agreement – is a “significant milestone in Nexen Tire’s expanding presence in the European OE market.” The tires, sized 225/60R18 104V XL, are being produced at Nexen’s European plant in the Czech Republic.
