Chinese manufacturer to add 1.2m PCR tires annually as overseas demand increases
Wuxi, China – China's Jiangsu General Science Technology is planning to invest up to Yuan112.3 million (€15 million) in further expansion of its tire manufacturing operations in Cambodia.
The project will add annual capacity for 1.2 million semi-steel radial passenger car tires at the company's existing factory in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone.
In a 30 Oct stock-exchange filing, General Science said the expansion would make use of existing factory space and take approximately 12 months to complete.
The manufacturer said the investment was intended to "further meet overseas market demand" for tires produced at its Cambodia base.
It identified the Americas, Europe and Southeast Asia as key target markets for the additional output.
The company said its Cambodia operations had completed two phases of development and gained experience in production management and local operations.
For the first nine months of 2026, the Cambodia subsidiary reported revenue of Yuan3.0 billion and net profit of Yuan385.7 million, according to the filing.
General Science estimated that the new capacity will generate annual revenue of around Yuan374 million and net profit of Yuan50.55 million once fully operational.
The company expects an investment return of 43.18%, based on its feasibility calculations.
The expansion was approved by General Science's board 29 Oct, alongside a separate $295-million investment in a new tire manufacturing plant in Egypt. (ERJ report)
