Michelin X Multi Z2 & D2 in 19.5'' claimed to combine “cost control, safety, and durability”
Clermont-Ferrand, France – Michelin Group has launched Michelin X Multi Z2 & D2 as part of a new generation of heavy-duty tires for for heavy goods vehicles making frequent deliveries over short or medium distances.
The range in 19.5'' has been available since June and provides “up to 30% longevity on the steering axle and 15% on the drive axle compared to the previous generation.”
This, Michelin said, reduces the frequency of replacements and fleet operating costs.
In addition, internal test carried out in June have shown that the tires, worn to 3.5 mm of rubber, offer a braking distance up to 8m shorter than its competitors on wet ground.
The EV-compatible, all-season tire uses Duracoil technology, which enhances casing strength and retreadability, thereby improving the endurance of the tire.
The tires also feature ‘Powercoil’, which are according to Michelin, “new, lighter, and stronger steel cables” that improve oxidation resistance, optimise endurance, and provide superior load-carrying capacity.
Michelin has also employed its “Regenion” technology in the tires, which is based on self-regenerating sculptures, derived from 3D metal printing.
The technology ensures “optimal grip and tread life, while reducing fuel consumption,” according to Michelin.
