Two new dedicated fitments approved for the latest Porsche model
Milan, Italy – Pirelli P Zero tires have been approved as OE fitment on the latest Porsche 911 GT3 model, Pirelli announced 9 Dec.
The P Zero R and the P Zero Trofeo RS are two new tires “tailor-made” for the car to meet its specific needs.
Pirelli said it used the experience gained from its previous tire supply to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS to develop the new tires.
The P Zero R, it said, meets the needs of "the sportiest cars" and is an ideal choice for daily driving.
The compound – specifically developed for the new Porsche GT3 – is claimed to offer “high performance even in everyday situations,” providing a strong grip on different surfaces and especially in the wet.
The tire also benefits from a wide working temperature range, and has different structures on the front and rear wheels to ensure good balance.
P Zero Trofeo RS, meanwhile, is “at the top of the P Zero range” providing "maximum performance on track."
The tire offers a combination of “extreme performance and consistency” enabling the driver to enjoy the full potential of the car.
The “highly specialised” tire has been tailor-made for a number of Porsche models including the Porsche GT3 RS and the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.
Both tires were developed at Pirelli’s R&D centres in Milan and Breuberg, using “advanced virtualisation techniques.”
This, Pirelli said, led to a 30% reduction in both the fitments' development time and use of physical prototypes.
