In-tire sensor system fitted in passenger car tires for real-time monitoring
New Delhi – JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. has launched what it described as “India’s first embedded smart tires” for the passenger car segment, introducing in-tire sensors designed to monitor key operating parameters in real time.
The system, designed and developed in-house and manufactured at the company’s Banmore plant in Madhya Pradesh, embeds sensors within the tire structure to track pressure, temperature and potential air leaks.
In a 10 Nov statement, JK Tyre said the technology delivers “actionable insights” aimed at improving vehicle safety, performance and efficiency.
Calling the development “a defining milestone”, chairman and managing director Dr Raghupati Singhania said: "We are transforming the way India drives, making mobility smarter, safer and more sustainable.”
The tires are to be sold initially in aftermarket channels through JK Tyre dealers in sizes ranging from 14 to 17 inches.
The launch builds on the company’s earlier ‘Smart Tire’ platform introduced in 2019, which combined TPMS and cloud-based analytics.
