US supplier cites ‘today’s dynamic market’ for efficiency measures
Novi, Michigan – Cooper Standard is closing a second automotive parts production plant in Ohio as part of efficiency measures to optimise its manufacturing footprint.
In a 13 May statement, the US supplier said it is closing its facility in Bowling Green, Ohio and relocating the business and equipment into other existing Cooper Standard locations.
“In today’s dynamic market, Cooper Standard must continually analyse plant utilisation and cost structure to optimize our manufacturing footprint and overall operating efficiency,” said the company statement.
In a separate statement to ERJ, Cooper Standard said the Bowling Green plant manufactures sealing systems and components primarily for the automotive industry.
The plant closure, expected by the end of 2027, will impact approximately 175 employees, the company statement added.
The announcement comes less than six months after a decision to close Cooper Standard’s automotive parts plant in Lexington, Ohio at the beginning of the year, impacting 228 people. (ERJ report)
The company said it was committed to providing transitional support to all employees affected by both actions.
