UK's James Dawson opens its doors to young job-seekers
ERJ staff report (PRW)
Lincoln, UK − James Dawson, the rubber hose manufacturing division of polymer giant Fenner, offered careers advice to prospective employees and students alike at a recent jobs fair, hosted by the University of Lincoln, reported Plastics & Rubber Weekly.
Peter Wressell, HR manager at the firm which employs around 240 people in Lincoln, said James Dawson believed youngsters and students could “introduce new ways of thinking in our industry, which can only be a good thing”.
The company sponsored the university’s careers event, which Wressell said provided students with an opportunity to find out if it was the sort of organisation they wanted to work for, whether on a placement or as a permanent employee.
“Both these aspects are equally important, and as a manufacturer people are often unaware of the range of opportunities that are potentially available to them,” he added.
The group recently launched a new recruitment microsite and Wressell said placements would be potentially on offer in the coming year to students who have an interest in either engineering, sales support, IT or finance.
