Italian wire & cable compounder adds to Swedish group's expanding thermoplastics business
Malmo, Sweden – Hexpol has completed its €143.5 million acquisition of Italian compounder Vipa Group, further expanding its thermoplastics business area.
Completed 1 Oct, the acquisition covers 100% of Vipa, which operates two production sites and an R&D centre in Italy and employs around 80 people, said Hexpol.
The company generated sales of €76.4 million in 2025 and specialises in thermoplastic compounds for the wire and cable sector, with exposure to electrification, data centres, telecoms and smart buildings.
Hexpol announced the planned acquisition in July, saying Vipa would add “leading positions in wire & cable” and significant available capacity for further growth at its existing facilities.
The deal forms part of Hexpol's wider expansion in thermoplastics, which the group last year identified as a key growth platform alongside its established rubber compounding operations. (ERJ report)
The Vipa deal follows Hexpol's acquisition last year of an 80% stake in Turkish cable compounder Kabkom, which specialises in high-performance thermoplastic and thermoset cable compounds.
