World speciality C black market set to grow at 5% to 2018
ERJ staff report (BC)
Dublin – Analyst Research and Markets (R&M) expects the global speciality carbon black market to grow at a CAGR of 5 percent in volume up to 2018.
R&M’s report “Global Specialty Carbon Black Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2018” notes that this market has remained consolidated, with only a few players operating globally. This is attributed to a strong inclination of carbon black manufacturers towards commodity blacks to meet high demand for tire production in the rapidly growing automotive industry.
However, new players have entered during the last 3-4 years, according to R&M, either through mergers and acquisitions or due to a shift in focus of rubber black players towards speciality blacks.
Speciality grades have extended the market for carbon black by enhancing characteristics such as colour, rheology control and conductivity in reinforcement applications compared with commodity carbon blacks.
