Falken to participate in Nürburgring 24-Hour Race
ERJ staff report (TP)
Offenbach am Main, Germany – Sumitomo Rubber Group’s European subsidiary, Falken Tyre Europe GmbH, will participate in the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race (officially known as the '42nd ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race') in Germany.
The event runs 19-22 June and is considered one of the world's largest touring car races.
This year will mark the fifteenth time that Falken has taken part. This year's team will feature the same Porsche 911 GT3 R race cars as last year. Falken's four-member team includes Wolf Henzler and two of his veteran teammates, plus Alexandre Imperatori, a “promising” newcomer to the team who has taken part in the All-Japan Formula Three Championship and “made a name for himself” in Super GT.
The 24-hour endurance race is also famous as a development test track for automobile and tire makers. At 25 km per lap, the Nürburgring course combines the North Course (Old Course), which features an elevation difference of 300 metres between its highest and lowest points, and about 170 corners (including blind corners) – and the more modern Grand Prix Course, which is also used for F1 racing.
