Melitek expands medical compounds operation
ERJ staff report (PR)
Alslev, Denmark – Medical compounds company Melitek is set to start up a new production line following the addition of new buildings for additional production area and an extra warehouse at its site. The high-capacity line, it said, features advanced equipment for polymer and elastomer compounds.
“The expansion has proceeded according to plan and budget and the new production line is installed and ready for start-up in October 2014,” Kim Laursen, managing director said in a press statement.
“The new line is in essence a true duplicate of our current line with same brands and sizing making it redundant to our current large medical line. It will however have many new features making production even more efficient and safe so indeed we are looking forward to take it into use,” continued Laursen.
The expansion, said the Danish company, is in response to increased demand from both new and existing customers and growing use of its elastomer materials as a PVC-replacement and in modified polymer systems.
The new line will ensure even higher flexibility and security of supply which is especially important for customers within the medical industry, added Melitek, which aims to double its sales within the next five years.
Melitek offers compounds based on polyolefins, TPEs and TPOs to meet the requirements of medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging applications. The company’s grades are available for film, tubing and moulding applications.
