Cordiant, other tire makers targeted as Brussels imposes restrictions on companies, executives...
Brussels – The EU has imposed sanctions on Russian tire manufacturers as part of its largest-ever package of individual listings targeting the country's military-industrial complex.
The measures, adopted by the Council of the EU 12 Oct, cover 1,569 individuals and entities, including 826 Russian companies and 743 chief executives.
Tire makers including Cordiant, Ural Tyre Plant and aircraft tire manufacturer YaShZ Avia were named among the companies targeted by the sanctions, alongside senior executives.
The Council said the measures were against companies supplying components to Russia's military industry, including producers supporting advanced weapons systems.
The latest restrictions represent the "single largest set of listings ever agreed by the EU," bringing the total number of listings under the sanctions regime to nearly 4,600.
According to the Council, the package specifically targets mid-level suppliers representing the "core" of Russia's military industry.
Together, these suppliers generate annual turnover of at least €20 billion and employ more than 250,000 people.
The sanctions include asset freezes and prohibit EU operators from making funds or economic resources available, directly or indirectly, to listed companies or for their benefit.
