Japanese rubber and sealing products manufacturers combine operations under new group
Tokyo – Japanese seals and rubber products maker NOK Corp. and mechanical seals manufacturer Eagle Industry have completed their business integration, establishing a new holding company with a broad portfolio of rubber, resin and industrial sealing technologies.
NOK Group Corp. was established 1 Oct through a joint share transfer, bringing together 111 group companies with 43,000 employees across 20 countries and regions.
The new group combines NOK's expertise in rubber and resin-based sealing products with Eagle Industry's strengths in mechanical seals using metals, carbon and ceramics.
The integration is intended to create a business offering "comprehensive sealing solutions" across a wide range of materials, the group said in its 1 Oct announcement.
The companies aim to combine their respective technologies to provide services ranging from "material development to design and mass production," targeting automotive, industrial machinery, marine, aerospace, energy and semiconductor applications.
NOK Group also brings together three other core businesses: Mektec, which manufactures electronic components; Unimatec, which handles chemical products; and NOK Klueber, which specialises in lubricants.
The integration follows an agreement announced in November 2025, under which the companies outlined plans to expand their sealing product portfolio and strengthen their positions in automotive and industrial markets.
At the time, NOK and Eagle identified opportunities to combine NOK's rubber-based oil seals with Eagle's mechanical sealing technologies, while expanding sales through their respective customer networks.
The partners also outlined potential manufacturing and procurement synergies, including more efficient use of global production facilities, increased in-house production of tools and moulds, and joint purchasing.
The integration, they said, would support a unified approach to research and development, capital investment and future growth opportunities.
Under the new structure, NOK and Eagle Industry continue to operate as separate companies, wholly owned by NOK Group Corp, based in Tokyo.
Established in 1939, NOK is a major Japanese manufacturer of oil seals, O-rings, gaskets and other sealing products used in automotive and industrial applications.
Its rubber-related operations include elastomeric sealing technologies.
Meanwhile, group company Unimatec manufactures speciality chemical products, including synthetic rubber materials.
Eagle Industry was established in 1964 following the separation of NOK's mechanical seal operations.
Its products include mechanical seals for automotive, industrial machinery and other applications, using combinations of metallic, carbon, ceramic and other materials.
