Artist turns used rubber parts into fashion
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Adelaide, Australian -- An Australian artist is set to showcase recycled rubber jewellery made from used bike inner tubes during an annual cycling race in Adelaide, reports Kate Spain for the Australian Sunday Mail.
Dell Plummer, an Adelaide artist, said the idea came to her while she was making leather bags in her studio.
She sources the used inner tubes from local bike stores. Plummer cleans, treats and sterilises the rubber before making the jewellery. Her range of necklaces will be on display and a number of galleries in Adelaide for the duration of the cycling race, to be held 20-27 January.
