The scrap-tire granulate is produced by ‘industrialists’ in France under contract with Aliapur,” said a statement from the French waste-tire management company.
Partner Veso Concept is a mechanical engineering and development consultancy specialising in new, bio-sourced composite materials.
The consultancy , said Aliapur, is exploring opportunities to exploit the flexibility, resilience, heat and sound insulation, solidity and rot-proof qualities of Technigom.
Developments to date include four panel types: a basalt panel that contains Technigom in its honeycomb; a bamboo panel with Technigom in its core; and two stratified panels that mix Technigom granulate with coconut fibres in one and flax fibres in the other.
Sports surfacing is a major target application, but Aliapur said the material could also be used in waterproof partitions for the shipbuilding industry and parts with increased shock-resistance properties for the car industry
Other potential uses include sound and heat insulation for the construction industry and materials for furniture and design.
