Boston, Massachusetts – Cabot Corp. is increasing prices on all carbon black products in its Reinforcement Materials segment sold to Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, effective 12 June, or as customer contracts allow.
In a 12 May statement, the company said it was experiencing “significant cost pressures due to high utilisation rates, increased requirements to meet new regulations and sourcing challenges for feedstock that is specifically selected for the production of carbon black in EMEA region.”
“Despite ongoing efforts to offset these costs, price adjustments will be implemented in the range of €50 to €80 per tonne, in addition to any applicable feedstock index-related adjustments, for rubber carbon black products,” Cabot added.
The price hike, it said, was “necessary” to ensure Cabot remained a reliable, long-term supplier.
