Tokyo – Exactly a month after announcing price-rises for its elastomer products, Japanese supplier, Kuraray has signalled further hikes for these materials.
The elastomers business unit, Kuraray said on 26 Jan, will raise the prices of all styrenic copolymers Septon and Hybrar as well as polyurethane-based TU-Polymer elastomers by $0.45/kg. The move will cover all regions as of 1 March.
The same materials are already expected to see a price rise as of 1 Feb by $0.25/kg, as per a 26 Dec statement by Kuraray.
According to the Japanese supplier, rising feedstock prices during the course of 2016 increased the costs to produce the speciality high performance materials.
“It is necessary to recover a portion of these increases to ensure ongoing supply and new product innovation,” Kuraray added.
