Wolverhampton, UK – Production has come to an end at Goodyear’s Wolverhampton plant and by 23 Dec, 283 workers will have left the site, according to a Goodyear spokeswoman.
“Over the last 18 months we have worked closely with our associates and the trade unions to help those affected by the closure of the Wolverhampton plant," EMEA communications manager Nik Ellis told ERJ.
Of those seeking further employment, she said, the majority have secured positions around the local area.
According to Ellis, another 37 workers will remain to complete the plant close-down, estimated to end in June 2017.
The company, she added, will maintain its sales office for the UK as it will remain “as a very important market for Goodyear.”
