Report: Michelin expanding French tire site, rolls out new contracts
La Roche-sur-Yon, France – Michelin has signed a deal with trade unions to change the working patterns of employees at its site in La Roche-sur-Yon, according to reports in the French media.
The move is part of €56-million modernisation plans at Michelin’s sole remaining truck tire facility in France, FranceTV said 25 April.
The “Skipper 360”plan, it said, being rolled out this year, to make the plant “more competitive and responsive.”
The goal includes increasing production capacity at the site by 50 percent to 1.2 million units a year.
The labour contract introduces shift patterns to support a 7-day week operation of the plant, including weekend shifts for the 730 employees.
Michelin struck a similar agreement with its employees at Roanne, Loire, according to the reports.
ERJ is still awaiting an official statement about these developments from Michelin’s UK press office.
