London - The Dunlop Company was added to the large number of large manufacturing companies brought under UK government control during World War I, according to a report from 6 Nov 1915.
The takeover was expected to have less impact than in most other cases because Dunlop had made “exceptional efforts to meet the large requirements of the War Office while also supplying private traders.
Avon Rubber was also reckoned to have joined the list of controlled firms and hoping that the business would not be seriously interfered with.
