Kyoto, Japan - Murata Machinery, Ltd, part of the Muratec Group, based in Kyoto, has acquired Cimcorp Oy from its shareholders The deal brings the Finnish supplier of automated materials handling systems for the tire industry into the Muratec Group - the worlds fourth largest supplier of material handling systems.
The two companies, said Muratec, will now aim to bring "complementary systems" and service offerings to customers in their markets. As well as its logistics technologies for the tire industry, Cimcorp also supplies systems for the retail and distribution sector.
"From now on, the Muratec-Cimcorp Group can truly be a one-stop-shop. Both Muratec and Cimcorp will continue business as they have done until today," said the Japanaese group in a 30 Oct announcement..
"For the future, we aim to introduce new innovations for various manufacturing and distribution industries by integrating the experience and knowhow that both Muratec and Cimcorp have developed, it added.
The acquisition include Cimcorp's Canadian business RMT Robotics which said in a 3 Nov press statement: “Both Muratec and Cimcorp will continue business operations going forward with no change to their current strategies,” said a press release from RMT Robotics.
Murata Machinery was established in 1935. It has expanded its fields to textile machines, machine tools, material handling systems, communication equipment, and factory automation for clean rooms, It now has 6,300 group employees and sales of over €1.6 billion as of March, 2014.
Established in 1975, Ulvila, Finland-based Cimcorp has around 300 employees and annual sales of about €60 million. Its logistics & automation division has delivered 6,000 systems to around 5,000 customers in various industries in over 20 countries.
