Japanese automakers produce more overseas
ERJ staff report (BC)
Tokyo – Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the first quarter of calendar year 2013 totalled 4 197 494 units, reports the Japan Automobile Manufactureres Association (JAMA), an increase of 1.2 percent from the same quarter in the previous year. JAMA attributes this outcome to expanded local production worldwide, except in Europe, Africa, and Oceania, during the quarter under review.
Fiscal year 2012 (ending March 31, 2013) saw a growth in local production in all regions worldwide except Europe, with the total output of 15 876 187 units that year representing an increase of 14.9 percent over fiscal 2011.
