Avon Tyres sponsors superbike racing in Ireland
ERJ staff report (BC)
Melksham, UK – Avon Tyres is sponsoring a new Irish motorcycle racing series, the Formula 1 Era Superbike championship.
The six-event series begins at the Nutts Corner circuit on 20 April and ends in September at Bishopscourt circuit.
Motorcycles featured are those regarded as the classic superbikes of the 1980s and 1990s, such as the Honda RC30 and RC45, Yamaha’s YZF750 and OW-01, Kawasaki’s ZXR750 and ZX-7R, the Aprilia RSV1000 Mille as well as Ducati’s 916 and 996 family.
Avon points to their lack of electronics and rider aids as promoting close, cost-effective racing.
As well as acting as title sponsor, Avon has pledged its 3D Ultra Xtreme tyres to top point-scorers.
