Reliance aims to be in top 15 elastomer producers

Mumbai, India - The Chairman of India's Reliance Industries has set out his ambition to be among the top elastomer producers worldwide.
In a speech to shareholders, Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries said India is becoming a hub for automotive production and that will need more elastomer materials. Reliance aims to serve this market by providing materials for tyres and automotive components.
He said, “We are building capacity across a full range of synthetic rubbers at Hazira and Jamnagar.†He did not specify the material grades, but said they would be world-scale plants and will position Reliance as the largest elastomer producer in India and among the top 15 in the world.
