Bangkok, Thailand - JSR Corp said its joint venture factory to make S-SBR under construction in Thailand with BST Elastomers is unaffected by the fatal explosion and fire at BST's facilities in Map Ta Phut over the weekend.
The company said, â€œJSR would like to express our deep condolences to all the victims of the explosions and fire which occurred on May 5th, 2012 around 3:20pm (local time) at BST Elastomers Co., Ltd. (BSTE) located at the Map Ta Phut industrial estate in Thailand.â€
It added, â€œJSR is engaged in a joint venture called JSR BST Elastomers Co., Ltd. with Bangkok Synthetics Co., Ltd. (BST) which is the parent company of BSTE. Our new manufacturing plant for S-SBR (Solution Polymerised Styrene-Butadiene Rubber), which is currently under construction, is located 2 kilometers north of the explosion. At present there are no reports of damage to the construction site.
