JSR says S-SBR JV is unaffected by BST explosion

Bangkok, Thailand - JSR Corp said its joint venture factory to make S-SBR under construction in Thailand with BST Elastomers is unaffected by the fatal explosion and fire at BST's facilities in Map Ta Phut over the weekend.
The company said, “JSR would like to express our deep condolences to all the victims of the explosions and fire which occurred on May 5th, 2012 around 3:20pm (local time) at BST Elastomers Co., Ltd. (BSTE) located at the Map Ta Phut industrial estate in Thailand.â€
It added, “JSR is engaged in a joint venture called JSR BST Elastomers Co., Ltd. with Bangkok Synthetics Co., Ltd. (BST) which is the parent company of BSTE. Our new manufacturing plant for S-SBR (Solution Polymerised Styrene-Butadiene Rubber), which is currently under construction, is located 2 kilometers north of the explosion. At present there are no reports of damage to the construction site.
