Goodyear loses employee compensation appeal
ERJ staff report (LMH)
London - A court in Alabama has upheld the decision to award compensation benefits to a former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. employee. Brian Haygood was left “permanently and totally disabled†as a result of an injury he suffered in a work related accident, the Court said, and it had awarded benefits accordingly.
Goodyear appealed this decision. However, the Court of Civil Appeals of Alabama ruled 13 Jan 2012 that Goodyear failed to demonstrate that the trial court's judgement should be reversed and the judgement was affirmed.
Haygood, who sorted tyres at a Goodyear plant, developed a problem with his right foot, which left him in pain and unable to work.
