Washington State permits studded tyres early
ERJ staff report (DS)
Seattle, Washington State -- Local transport officials have informed drivers in Washington State that they may now use studded tyres and should take tyre chains with them on journeys, in anticipation of heavy snowfall in mountain passes.
A statement said, "Because of the challenging conditions ahead in the mountains, WSDOT officials decided to allow drivers to install studded tyres starting today, prior to the Nov. 1 seasonal tyre restriction lift. The weather should clear by Wednesday, so if travelers are staying in the lower elevations and not crossing a mountain pass, WSDOT requests they wait until Nov. 1. "
