Wyko extends Asian alliances
ERJ staff report (DS)
Cleveland, Ohio - Fresh from the ITEC show in Cleveland, Wyko Tire Technology has Wyko has extended its trading alliances with Tianyang Mold, Shandong Yongyi Curing Bladders and consolidated its long standing partnership with Japan's leading multiplex extruder supplier Nakata Engineering Ltd.
Wyko went through a troubled period last year, due to the recession and allegations of spying, and is now owned by Davian Enterprises LLC. Speaking at the ITEC show, Ian Smith, Wyko's CEO explained that the rapidly changing demands of global tyre manufacturing are presenting challenges which the leading tooling suppliers respond to by designing dimensional tooling to specific tyre building systems.
He said Wyko's core tyre tooling business has grown significantly during 2010. Whilst benefitting from the upturn in the industry, Wyko's new engineering concepts have gained the attention of major tyre companies who are embedding the specialised tooling into their automated tyre building systems.
Davian Enterprises LLC acquired the intellectual property rights, assets and exclusive naming rights of Wyko from Eriks NV in Dec 2009. Its main manufacturing unit is located in Greenback, Tennessee together with engineering divisions in both the USA and United Kingdom.
