Faulty extruder causes 24-hour shut down of Goodyear plant
ERJ staff report (SS)
Germany -- Goodyear has confirmed that its Fulda plant was affected by a controlled 24 hour shut down earlier this week, as a result of defective gear in an extruder.
The company said in an 14 Jan email to ERJ that this was the first time an incident like this has happened.
“There won't be any economic/financial effects on the company. The loss ofa day's production output will be compensated over the year,†a Goodyear spokeswoman told ERJ.
Goodyear said that to ensure high quality production processes it maintains avery comprehensive and sufficient system of quality and process controlsystems as well as regular maintenance systems. This is why the incident this week was controlled quickly and efficiently.
The money to replace the faulty equipment will be covered by the company's existing maintenance budget said the spokeswoman.
