Saurer buys Day Intl's textile division
Arbon, Switzerland - Saurer AG and Day International Inc. have agreed to transfer all of Day's Textile Group activities to Saurer, subject to regulatory approval. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Day's products are marketed under the Accotex and Daytex brands.
In a statement, Saurer said Day's Textile Product Group is the world's largest supplier of consumable, precision engineered rubber cots (rollers), aprons (flexible belts), compressive shrinkage belts and other fabricated rubber products for the yarn spinning and glass-fiber-forming industries. Its most important products, cots and aprons, are used in the drafting process of ring spinning machinery.
Day's Textile Products Group generated sales of approximately $45m (€35 million) and currently employs around 270. The company's production facilities are located in Münster, Germany and Greenville, South Carolina, USA. In addition, it has sales offices in Italy, Turkey and Hong Kong.
Saurer said "Day's Textile Product Group further strengthens Saurer's component business. The big share of sales to textile mills and the fact that its products are wear and tear parts result in intense customer relationships. Saurer can complete its components business and is now in the position to offer all parts with direct influence on yarn quality on a ring-spinning machine as a complete package."
