Trelleborg to buy Australian rubber sheet maker Armwest
TRELLEBORG, Sweden (April 28)--Trelleborg A.B. has agreed to buy Armwest Pty. Ltd., a Perth, Australia-based maker of rubber sheeting, to strengthen its existing presence in Australia.
Trelleborg will incorporate Armwest into its Trelleborg Engineered Systems business unit. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Armwest makes rubber sheeting for specialized applications and materials handling in Western Australia; it generated about $2.5 million in sales last year, Trelleborg said.
"This acquisition strengthens our leading positions in Australia within attractive growth areas," said Business Area President Peter Nilsson. "Establishing operations in Perth creates the conditions for an increased presence in Western Australia, the center for mineral handling and oil/gas operations in this part of the world."
Trelleborg said it expects to realize synergies with its existing operations in Australia, including the opportunity to offer a wider product portfolio through Armwest´s established sales channels.
