Goodyear's latest SUV tyres use aramid reinforcement
Akron--Goodyear is offering SUV tyres reinforced with aramid fibres under the trade name "SilentArmor Technology" This, says the company, delivers a quiet ride that is capable of resisting punctures and cuts. The layer of aramid is above the two steel belts. Goodyear claims it "helps provide strength for rugged toughness" Goodyear specifies that the aramid is DuPont's Kevlar brand.
In addition to the aramid reinforcement, Goodyear says the sidewall is extra-tough, using its "Durawall" compound, which, "which reinforces the sidewall to help resist punctures and cuts." The tyres are about to be distributed to dealers, but only in the US
