By Patrick Raleigh, ERJ On-line news editor
Frankfurt, Germany-Degussa AG's Advanced Fillers & Pigments business unit is to increase prices for its performance silica products by Euro75/tonne as of 1 Oct, the company has announced.
“Costs for raw material, energy, human resources and freight have increased to such an extent that Degussa is no longer in a position to absorb those,†said an 8 Sept company statement. This, it added, was “despite of an intensive cost management and a higher efficiency in its production processes.â€
With 30 plants in 18 countries, the Advanced Fillers & Pigments unit produces carbon black, performance silica, matting agents, organosilanes and pigments.
