French group reinforces its Polymer Composite Solutions business following earlier acquisitions this year
Clermond-Ferrand, France – Michelin Group has completed its third non-tire acquisition of the year with the takeover of Maine-based coated fabrics specialist Tex Tech Industries.
The deal, completed on 1 July, follows Michelin's acquisitions of Cooley in January and Flexitallic in April, further expanding the group's Polymer Composite Solutions (PCS) business.
Michelin said Tex Tech was “a strong strategic fit” for the PCS business, with “the same commitment to innovation and high-quality products.”
Founded in 1904, Tex Tech Industries is a premier designer and manufacturer of textile products and specialised coated fabrics for a wide range of industries and niche applications.
The company has created solutions for some demanding applications including thermal protection systems (TPS) for space vehicles, fuselage burn-resistant aircraft materials, aircraft seat fire-blocking textiles, and custom fabrics for composite applications.
Michelin initially announced the deal in January, where it said the purchase was expected to increase revenue in the PCS portfolio by around 20%, equivalent to $280 million (€240 million).
According to Michelin's latest announcement, Tex Tech reported sales of $128 million in 2025.
The company employs 300 people and operates six factories: five in the US and one in the UK.
