Five-year agreement covers ‘MITR-M1 half mask’, particulate filters and accessories
Melksham, UK – The Canadian government has awarded Avon Protection a five-year contract to supply its ‘MITR-M1 half mask’ respiratory system and related accessories for use by the Canadian armed forces, the UK-based protection equipment supplier announced 13 May.
The contract establishes a framework agreement under which the Canadian armed forces can place orders for the MITR-M1 half mask and MITR-PF compact particulate filters.
According to Avon Protection, Canada is the first Five Eyes (FVEY) defence force to award a contract for the MITR-M1 system, but did not provide further details about the value of the deal.
The respiratory mask is designed for low- to mid-level threat tactical environments and can be carried in cargo pockets or equipment pouches for rapid deployment.
Avon said the mask provides protection against airborne particulate contaminants including explosive gunfire residue, as well as oil- and non-oil-based contaminants such as lead, asbestos, fentanyl and lubricant mist.
The mask is designed to integrate with ballistic and bump helmets, as well as night vision goggles, eye protection and hearing protection systems.
