Tire Tech '26: Industry leaders show the way forward

ERJ tracks new advances in the fields of technology, machinery, materials and R&D being presented at this year’s expo & conference
Tire Technology Expo 2026, taking place at the Messe Hannover on 3-5 March, will feature leading-edge developments from leading players throughout the industry.
Major themes for this year’s staging will include sustainability, automated manufacture, intelligent tires and tire-wear mitigation and measurement.
Issues around net-zero, the circular economy and the need to minimise the carbon footprint of tire materials and manufacturing processes will also be widely addressed.

At the Tire Technology Expo conference in Hanover, Dr. Antti Laukkanen, CTO of Black Donuts, will introduce Nemus — a premix of natural rubber and microfibrillated cellulose developed as a renewable reinforcement alternative for tire tread compounds. Nemus is designed to reduce reliance on conventional fillers, such as carbon black and silica, while maintaining the required performance characteristics.

Continental will open the technical conference at this year’s Tire Technology Expo, with a presentation on tire technologies for autonomous driving. Dr Andreas Topp, head of ‘platform development and industrialisation’ for passenger-car tires at Continental, will deliver the opening presentation 3 March, where he will outline how tire design is adapting to the requirements of self-driving vehicles. Rockwell Automation will showcase its portfolio of digital and automation solutions designed to help tire producers “move from automation to autonomy.” Visitors to the booth can find out more about topics such as IoT, AI/ML and scalable operational management via computerised maintenance management systems and quality management systems. The vendor will also major on: the use AI?enabled closed-loop optimisation to improve tire uniformity, performance and energy use; and how the digital requirements of the upcoming EU 2026 Digital Product Passport regulation.
At Tire Tech, Pesmel will present TransTire, an automated high-bay warehouse and logistics concept developed specifically for the tire industry. The system is said to allow seamless integration of infeed logistics, warehousing, and order picking, enabling warehouse operations without pallets. Controlled by a 'material llow WMS', it is designed to provide "reliable and efficient handling of complex orders comprising hundreds of different SKUs, ensuring consistent performance and on-time deliveries."
At this year’s Tire Tech Expo, Cimcorp will highlight how its modular automation systems can help tire manufacturers “simplify operations and scale efficiently with modular automation designed for both greenfield and legacy plants...”
