Alabama-based Valley Rubber manufactures custom rubber solutions for tough mining, industrial applications
Paragould, Arkansas – US rubber compounder GRT Rubber Technologies (GRT) is acquiring Valley Rubber, a manufacturer of custom rubber solutions for tough mining and industrial applications.
Founded in 1967 in Falkville, Alabama, Valley Rubber operates locations in Falkville; Minden, Nevada and Antofagasta, Chile, said GRT in an 18 Nov statement.
According to GRT, the two manufacturers have “significant overlap” in complementary product offerings and channels in relation to conveyer belt systems.
Operating a 142,000 square foot facility in Paragould, GRT manufactures a broad range of conveyer belt products, with core focus on aggregate mining, and sells through distributors.
Valley Rubber, said GRT, provides auxiliary components that control transfer points and dust suppression, addressing issues of end users and selling directly into the aggregate and mining markets.
“Valley's expertise in the aggregate and mining industries will provide us with more access and material exposure to our current and new markets," said David Brown, CEO of GRT.
The partnership will also enable GRT to "significantly expand" its international footprint, as Valley Rubber has a growing presence in Chile, Mexico and Peru.
Formerly part of EnPro Industries, GRT has seen significant growth since its carve-out in 2014, which was led by investment firm Main Street Capital.
"During the time with our previous parent company, GRT became less of a strategic fit within the larger vision," said Brown.
"Having a steady and willing provider of capital… like Main Street opened the door to many possibilities for our company, which has allowed us to expand our product offerings and add services,” he added.
