ERJ staff report (TB)
Tokyo - Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) was formally recognised by environmental group Clean Valley Council for its tree planting efforts as part of the "Yokohama Forever Forest" Project.
The Clean Valley Council is a nonprofit organisation that brings its environmental message to local students and carries out various activities championing the importance of environmental activities. Twice a year, it stages large-scale clean-ups, in which YTC employees participate as volunteers.
The council awarded YTC on July 9 its "Valley Beautiful Beautification Award," which it gives to companies that have engaged in systematic environmental preservation activities.
On April 4, YTC held a tree planting ceremony at its Salem, Virginia, plant with 250 attendees that included representatives of forestry offices in Salem and Virginia, students from local elementary schools, the Boy Scouts and YTC employees and their families.
