Textile-reinforced high pressure hose cuts noise
ERJ staff report (DS)
Hanover, Germany - ContiTech has developed a textile-reinforced suspension hose designed to absorb noise, and is selling it under the Mutex name. Its volume increase capacity is great enough to absorb pressure peaks.
ContiTech Fluid Technology has developed a hose with a volume increase capacity great enough to absorb the pressure peaks induced by the oil pump - and thus have a damping effect. It renders superfluous the use of additional acoustic measures like a muffler.
ContiTech has succeeded in combining a relatively large volume increase and a resistance to working pressures exceeding 200 bar that occur in active suspension systems. The special construction of the textile reinforcement made this possible. What is more, textile braiding is much more effective than steel braiding in reducing hose transmission of structure-borne noise.
