EChA to act on enforcing rules on labelled oils in tyres
ERJ staff report (DS)
Helsinki -- EChA, the European Chemicals Agency charged with implementing REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals) legislation, has agreed that enforcement of the content of labelled oils in tyres will be one of its first REACH- based enforcement projects.
??At a meeting (19-21 May), EChA's Forum for Exchange of Information on Enforcement agreed to extend its REACH-EN-FORCE 1 project to the use of extender oils containing polycyclic-aromatic
hydrocarbons (PAH) in tyres. The group said the aims of the REACH Regulation can only be achieved when effective enforcement actions are taken.
The enforcement tools for assessing the compliance with this REACH restriction (PAH oils in tyres) are now under preparation. The operational phase will start in late summer this year across a number of participating countries.
