UK aims to raise awareness of bladder cancer
ERJ staff report (DS)
Bristol, UK -- A UK-based group, Action on Bladder Cancer (ABC) aims to raise awareness of the illness. Bladder cancer is especially associated withh long-term exposure to certain rubber chemicals, notably naphthylamines
Every year in the UK, approximately 10,000 people are diagnosed with bladder cancer and the number of patients being treated for bladder cancer is rising. Bladder cancer is the 4th most common cancer in men and 11th most common in women. Despite this, there is very limited public awareness towards the disease and it is a relatively low priority on the public health agenda.
ABC said, "We are ambitious but realistic. ABC can begin to make a difference very quickly with your support. We are asking for all individuals and organisations with an interest in bladder cancer to join ABC. We want to work together to achieve common aims. Please simply register with us and you can become involved."
