Magnets use nitrile rubber
ERJ staff report (DS)
Milton, Ontario -- A Canadian magnet maker claims it can make a better magnet using nitrile rubber. Jobmaster Magnets based in Milton, Ontario said conventinoal magnets a re brittle and can be expensive to manufacture as the magnetic material needs to be sintered to form an accurate shape.
An alternative is the magnetic strip which embeds the magnetic particles in nitrile rubber. The resulting magnets, said Jobmaster, are more powerful than normal flexible magnetic strips, with magnetic force in the range of 1.1 - 1.6 megagaussoersteds (MGOe).
