Lanxess launches further price increases
ERJ staff report (PR)
Cologne, Germany – Lanxess AG is increasing prices for its ethylene-vinyl acetate synthetic rubber grades to compensate, it said, for a rise in the cost of producing these polymers.
Grades in the Levapren/Levamelt and Baymod L (EVM) product lines will increase by up to €250 or $350 per tonne, the company said 11 April.
The increase will take effect in "the EMEA, LATAM, APAC and GC regions on 15 April, and in the NAFTA region on 21 April."
Applications for EVM polymers include automotive under-bonnet parts, such as hoses and seals, as well as cables, shoe soles, transparent bellows and profiles.
Lanxess recently announced increases in prices for all Keltan EPDM elastomer grades by $150/tonne worldwide, with effect from 1 April.
This followed an increase of Euro125/tonne in February for EPDM customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The specialty chemicals maker also recently hiked its rubber chemicals prices as part of efforts to improve margins in that business.
