Japanese chemicals group cites Middle East-related cost pressures
Tokyo – Resonac Corp. will increase prices for its Showprene chloroprene rubber by more than Yen50/kg, effective for deliveries from 1 July.
In a 15 June statement, the Japanese group cited sharply higher raw material and production costs for the decision.
“The environment surrounding our showprene business has become far beyond the limits of our self-help efforts due to soaring raw material costs stemming from the situation in the Middle East,” it said.
The Japanese supplier added that rising costs for auxiliary materials, fuels and other inputs had made “the business environment even more challenging.”
