Tire makers planning to build tire pyrolysis eco-systems for recycling their products
Berlin – Recovered carbon black (rCB) is continuing to generate a high level of interest across the tire industry, according to Martin von Wolfersdorff of industry consultancy Wolfersdorff Consulting Berlin.
Major tire makers, plan to build tire pyrolysis eco-systems for recycling their products back into tires – achieving sustainability and recycling targets, van Wolfersdorff said in a written comments to ERJ.
The Berlin-based analyst also noted how rCB companies like Bolder Industries, Pyrum Innovations and WF Recycle Tech have received new investments in 2021. Others, such as BB&G in Sines, Portugal, are building industrial sites this year or in early 2022 which will come on stream by 2024.
Wastefront, he continued, is another noteworthy player, which turned “the normal business development process upside down through getting commercial agreements before selecting technology and before building a plant in Sunderland, UK.”
In North America, meanwhile, new industrial capacity has started up with the Ecolomondo plant in Hawkesbury, Canada, which now is the biggest recovered carbon black plant in the region.
