Silicone rubber films designed for healthcare facilities to prevent spread of viruses, fungi, and bacteria
Hsinchu, Taiwan – Taiwanese silicones specialist General Silicones has developed a silicone rubber film with antiviral and antibacterial properties to be used in exposed surfaces within the healthcare industry.
The medical grade film, said General Silicones 9 Sept, adds protection to ‘high-touch surfaces’ frequently used by patients and visitors, such as bed rails and frames, moveable lamps, tray and bedside tables, handles and IV poles.
High-touch objects throughout the facilities such as elevator buttons, door and staircase handle, registrations desks, chairs, and furniture in waiting rooms, cafeterias, and restaurants can reduce the risks by applying the film.
Other areas such as lift buttons, door and staircase handle, registrations desks, chairs, and furniture can also be protected by the film.
Shipped in rolls that can be “easily cut and adjusted in size”, the patented film can be applied with standard adhesives to the surfaces.
Furthermore, the silicone rubber materials offers “excellent” anti-slip properties for patients, while being “biocompatible and bio durable, non-toxic, antibacterial, and chemically resistant.”
