Michelin names new boss for high-tech materials business

Maude Portigliatti was previously in charge of innovation programme and advanced research at French group
Clermont-Ferrand, France – Michelin Group has named Maude Portigliatti, currently SVP advanced research, as executive vice president, high tech materials.
Effective 1 July Portigliatti will succeed Sonia Artinian-Fredou, who according to Michelin “helped transform the high-tech materials business department into one of the company’s future growth drivers.”
Portigliatti is a graduate of INSA Lyon engineering school, where she majored in materials physics, Michelin said in a statement 11 June.
She also holds a research master’s degree in materials science and a PhD in polymer physics from the Condensed Matter Physics Laboratory.
Portigliatti joined the Michelin Group in 2000. After helping to set up a new materials R&D department in 2007, she was appointed group scientific director in 2013.
She became innovation deployment programmes director within the automotive original equipment business line in 2017, serving the group’s key customers in North America, Europe and Asia.
In 2019, she took charge of Michelin’s advanced research, where she was in charge of developing Michelin innovations for the tire and high-tech materials segments.
Michelin's high-tech materials business unit consists of its non-tire operations, including rubber products, hydrogen mobility, waste tire recycling, clean and bio-sourced materials and 3D metal printing.
