Will leverage real-time data generated from trailer braking systems and tire sensors
Friedrichshafen, Germany – ZF has entered a “long-term agreement” with Goodyear to apply its Transics-branded fleet management solutions to the US-based tire maker’s tires/mobility portfolio.
Initially, the two companies will offer European commercial vehicle fleets an integrated suite of fleet and tire management applications supporting mixed and multi-brand fleets, ZF said 8 June.
Through an interoperable and flexible solution, based on a single telematics box, fleets can access the services and support of both companies, the German company explained.
In particular, ZF and Goodyear will leverage real-time data generated from all makes of trailer braking systems and tire sensors.
This, they said, will equip fleet operators and drivers with actionable insights and smart functions to help them optimise vehicle-park usage, avoid road accidents and mitigate unscheduled downtime.
The real-time data could also enable fleets to reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions - the partners estimating that the collaboration could cut emissions by up to 2 tonnes of CO2 per connected trailer.
The collaboration with Goodyear will offer European fleets and trailer builders a one-stop fleet management solution, said Peter Bal, business leader, digital customer services, EMEA at ZF’s commercial vehicle control system division.
This will help Europe’s commercial fleets to simplify their operations, while enhancing efficiency, safety and cargo security, according to Bal.
The system, he added, will also help fleets meet upcoming EU GSR5 safety regulations which requires HCVs to be equipped with TPMS progressively from July 2022.
“Together with ZF, we will deliver a major step-change to further drive results for transportation, logistics, fleet operators and manufacturers,” added Grégory Boucharlat, VP, commercial Europe with Goodyear.
“Providing strong differentiation with interoperable proactive tire and vehicle management solutions and intelligent services, we continue to deliver the very latest, future-proof and customised support for our customers,” Boucharlat further claimed.
