Japanese group supplies ‘custom-engineered’ Potenza tires to recently launched MC20
Brussels - Bridgestone Corp. is the exclusive tire partner for Maserati’s new super car MC20 which was unveiled earlier this month.
The Japanese tire maker is supplying ‘custom-engineered’ Potenza sport tires, which were originally developed during the company’s long association with Formula 1 racing, said Bridgestone in a 28 Sept statement.
To tailor-make the tire to deliver “exceptional performance”, both Bridgestone and Maserati used in-house R&D centres and “ground-breaking” virtual development technology for testing, the statement added.
Using its virtual tire modelling technology, Bridgestone said it also reduced the length of the development process, and the tire's environmental impact by using less resources.
“Fully developed, tested and manufactured in Europe, these custom-designed Potenza tires have been designed to meet the high demands of Maserati,” said Steven De Bock, VP consumer replacement and OE at Bridgestone EMIA.
The specially engineered Potenza tire, he said, enables Maserati’s MC20 to deliver on its power, control and sporting capabilities.
“Both designed in Italy, the new Maserati MC20 and bespoke Bridgestone Potenza tires are the perfect match for each other,” said Federico Landini, Maserati vehicle line executive sports cars.
