Guiyang, China – Guizhou Tyre has held a groundbreaking ceremony for its $300 million (€255 million) Moroccan tire plant, which will be the Chinese group's second second overseas tire manufacturing base.
The ceremony took place 28 Oct at Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City, attended by representatives of local government and businesses, as well as international customers and suppliers, said a company statement.
Guizhou Tyre subsidiary Guizhou Qianjin Tyre Investment registered Advance Tyre Morocco SAS earlier this month with the purpose of manufacturing and selling "tires and other rubber products."
The registration follows plans announced in January to invest $298.7 million in a Moroccan plant with annual capacity of 6 million semi-steel radial tires. (ERJ report)
The project has an expected construction period of two years, Guizhou Tyre said.
In August, Guizhou Tyre confirmed that the project had obtained all required domestic investment approvals and registrations in China.
